Perinatal Outreach and Encouragement for Moms provides peer support groups, education on pregnancy and postpartum depression (PPD) and related mood/anxiety disorders, and information and referrals to appropriate resources in the area. They encounter each new mom with compassion and empathy– because POEM is comprised of moms who have been there.
Their services are free of charge.
Education, community outreach, and professional services offered to expectant parents and parents of newborns. The BWCO referral network is comprised of a diverse group of birth professionals including doulas, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, massage therapists and others

With all the information being thrown at new moms, it's tough to sort out fact from fiction. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendations are based on science and extensive research. The AAP recommends all babies sleep on their back, on a flat, firm, separate sleep surface such as a bassinet, play yard or crib, and to keep the baby's sleep space free of blankets, bumpers, toys or other objects.
