About Me
I knew from an early age that working with children and families is what I was meant to do.
I started as a mother’s helper for newborn twins at the age of twelve.
I received a BA in Early Childhood Education, and since then have become a certified newborn care specialist (NCS).
I have done extensive training and education in order to gain the vast experience I have today. I’ve been working with families overnight in the central Ohio area (Columbus) since 2016. I look forward to sharing my “baby whispering” powers with families for years to come.
A Columbus, Ohio resident for nearly 30 years, I have been working with children (mainly multiples) since 2002. I have worked in more than 5 schools and cared for more than ten sets of twins from birth to age seven plus. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education with a reading endorsement from Capital University. After teaching ages four to seven for three years, I left the classroom. I now provide families with private, professional care full time. In 2018, I trained as a Newborn Care Specialist and certified in 2020. In 2019 I trained as a Postpartum Doula through DONA. When I am not assisting families, I enjoy yoga, reading, and traveling world-wide.
My first overnight family was a set of twins in May 2016. I supported the family (two parents, two dogs, two new babies, and one older brother!) for six months. I live in a small community and often reconnect with former families. When the twins were nearly 3 years old, I stepped in when they were suddenly without childcare for over two weeks. They are wonderful kids, and still great sleepers!
I continued supporting working families during the day for the next two years. I enjoyed caring for toddlers, but was always drawn to newborn care. Therefore, I decided to specialize in overnight newborn care.
That was one of the best decisions I have made. Since 2018, I have over 3,000 contact hours with newborns, assisting families from as far south as Grove City and as far north as Delaware, Ohio in their pursuit to understand and nurture their newborn(s).
My goals current goals are to expand my services both in-home and virtually, take some amazing trainings and support families like you during these trying times.
Just like raising a family, the world of birth workers is a team. I am lucky enough to work with many professionals; including Birth Doulas, Certified Lactation Consultants, Mother and Infant Nurses, Early Intervention Specialists, maternity / birth photographer and whomever you need to feel fully supported. Please reach out for recommendations.
“Caring for twins is a special skill set and Courtney was incredibly competent with twin infants. It takes a special person to feed two infants at once and care for them in the middle of the night.”
